Growing Bonsai As A Hobby Is Absorbing

Growing bonsai is a fascinating and extremely rewarding pastime. Growing bonsai trees is not an expensive pastime with few tools being required. A bonsai is a true living sculpture that anyone would be proud to own.

Bonsai are container grown plants or trees that are expressly grown to be a miniature of the full size counterpart. Bonsai can be developed from almost any perennial wood stemmed trees or shrubs that develop branches, and is able to develop small through pot confinement with the assistance of crown and root trimming.

Bonsai trees can be grown from seed, from young shoots lifted from the countryside (please comply with any laws in respect of removing wild plants in your area), or can be ordered as ready grown bonsai trees. Obviously growing bonsai trees from seed is the slowest route, but you do then have maximum control of how your bonsai will grow.

Bonsai trees are grown in special bonsai pots that not only restrict the roots, but are also designed to complement the appearance of the bonsai tree. Specialist growing compounds can be purchased that will provide the perfect conditions for your bonsai tree to grow.

Many methods are used to sculpt your bonsai and give it character. These techniques include leaf trimming, wiring branches, grafting on other plants, dwarfing and deadwood, (a process used to age bark). Few specialist tools are needed to sculpt bonsai, and these can easily be bought for little cost. Everything you need to get started can easily be bought from a bonsai nursery.

If you are wondering if growing bonsai trees is for you, I say have a go, bonsai trees are easy to grow, take very little of your time, every bonsai tree is unique, and who doesn’t admire a bonsai.

Bonsai can be had as both indoor and outdoor varieties, some bonsai trees are best left outside in the warmer summer months and then brought inside during the winter months.

And for anyone that likes the idea, but would rather not get involved in growing bonsai, you can even buy artificial bonsai trees.
