Westwood Teeth Whitening: Satisfaction Guaranteed

Many people judge us by our smile. A flash of pearly whites projects an image of a person with positive disposition in life, which attracts many people. The perfect white smile is no longer reserved for the Hollywood elites; your dentist can now do wonders, thanks to cosmetic teeth whitening.

In as little as an hour in the dentist’s office, you can change your appearance dramatically. Some may be wary at the efficacy of the process we use at Westwood Teeth Whitening, but the proof is in the product. Westwood Family Dentist focuses on giving you a perfect set of white teeth.

What causes tooth discoloration?

When your first little teeth popped through your gums, they were a beautiful shade of white, thanks to yet untarnished enamel surface. Over the process of a lifetime, this enamel is slowly worn away, allowing the dentin beneath the enamel to be exposed. Dentin, the basic material of the teeth, is yellow, thus causing tooth discoloration.

Another root of discoloration is the stain and debris, which fill in the microscopic cracks in your teeth caused from chewing. This takes away the sparkles in your teeth, leaving behind a flat and dull looks. Other roots of tooth discoloration include your age, genetic makeup, smoking, eating habits, teeth grinding, drug use, or trauma.

How can our office help?

The teeth whitening process we use at Westwood Teeth Whitening has many distinct advantages over at-home procedures. You can see and feel the results right away, without requiring you to apply creams or gels everyday. The dentists at our office use state-of-the-art dental technology and focus on gibing you whitening sessions that lessen sensitivity of your tooth and gum.

We are a certified and licensed cosmetic dental office. We are proud to have Steven D. Hopkinson, DDS, one of the most respected and the best in his field. Our dentists assure their patients they will give them the safest whitening procedures available today.

What to expect

Before the teeth whitening process begins, the dentist will carry out a pre-cleaning of your teeth to remove any surface plaque and debris between the teeth. A thorough exam will be undertaken to rule out any other potential dental problems before the undergoing the whitening procedure. In case there are potential problems, your dentist will take care of them in advance.

The dentist will then apply a hardening resin to your gum’s surface to avoid any irritation due to the chemicals used in the teeth whitening process. Then the actual bleaching agent will be applied and left on from 15 to 30 minutes. Your dentist may repeat the teeth whitening procedure when necessary until you achieve your desired tooth shade.

Stains may persist

Although teeth whitening is a quick and amazing cosmetic process, you should be aware that discoloration may reappear over time. Stains may especially persist when you re-introduce your teeth to the same straining agents that originally caused the discoloration. In these cases, we at Westwood Teeth Whitening can repeat the teeth whitening process at a future time if necessary.
